Help building mountain bike trails?
My house is surrounded by woods and I love to mountain bike and have finally started working on building trails. As I’ve been building, I have realized that my trail isn’t that good. What are some things I can do to add to my trails that doesn’t require lot’s of people/machinery. Thank You
First of all, you’ll need to find out who owns the land and get permission to build trails. If it’s public land, there should be a land manager who you can contact. If it’s private land, well, good luck with that…
Basically, just taking it upon yourself to build a trail isn’t really a good idea, and does nothing but sets back the cause and drives resentment toward our sport.
It will help your cause if you align yourself with a local mountain bike club with some political clout, one that sends representatives to land access meetings and so forth.
