SOLID WOOD WORKTOPS

Which worktop material is best?
Am planning a new kitchen with matt shaker cream doors, cant decide on worktops. Leaning towards black high gloss finish or maybe solid wood. Research says laminate scratches, wood goes black near sinks and granite needs special stain treatment etc any ideas please, medium budget. many thanks Clinton D
Black and shiny will show every single streak and drop that hits it. Go for something with a matt finish, maybe a mix of colors to hide spots and streaks. Real wood can be sealed and not be damaged by the water near the sink but should be re-sealed from time to time. Granite also needs to be sealed to protect it once or twice a year. Look at similar looking but more durable counter tops at your local home improvement store. Ask about upkeep and durability. You can even take in a cabinet door to make sure it looks good with your choice.
Wood Worktops oak, walnut, bubinga, zebrano, wenge, sapele, cherry, beech
