SOLID WOOD WORK TABLES

My solid birch wood table had deep scratches. Tried fixing it but now there’s a glossy patch. How can i fix it?
The glossy/shiny patch is noticeable under certain lighting conditions. I first sanded it down with sandpaper (P400 and P1200), this evened out the surface however left a lighter shade. So i decided to use almond oil then linseed oil to achieve the same colour as the rest of the table. This worked however, now its extremely glossy in that area…. Not sure what caused the gloss and if i can get rid of it.
Or would i need to do the whole table?
you can try using 0000 lot steel wool with water over the table to blend the area, but somtimes this will not work. Best thing is to coat the whole top..good luck
