KITCHEN WOOD WORK DESIGNS

we still have tin walls..and also on the ceiling..help?
I am moving in with my fiance.. they house he lives in is a 6 bedroom 3 bathroom. his mother owns it but she is giving it to us next year we will be signing all the paper work befor she leaves for carolina. my problem is that she doesnt want us to change the look of the house.. but we can fix it up… the kitchen has some kind of tin on the upper half and wood pannaling on the bottom… all the ceilings in ever room have the tin stuff but in a really pretty design… even the bath room walls are tin… i dont get it.. i know its an old house but whats with the tin..and whats so great about it that everyone says to keep it? please help
i didnt relize they were such a big deal… where can i find information about it?
everything is all orginal with the house. right down to picture windows with stain glass.. its really an amazing house…but i dont under stand what the hype aboutt the tin is

OMG, you don’t really want to take down the tin ceilings. They add huge value to a home. Do some research on them, people are spending huge dollars to have this retro ceiling done with modern fake panels, and you have the original!
I actually envy you, as do many who read this. Consider yourself lucky to have them.
