Free Storage Shed Plans – 3 Important Things To Think About Before Building

Ok.So you found your free storage shed plans and choose the place where you want your shed to be.Of course you have to see if you need a building permit from your city or county. And you have figured out how to make a good solid floor for you shed. But what about the shed itself?I want to share a few tips with you about things to consider before starting to built your shed.

Think About Ventilation

This may sound like a detail but it is very important. You need to have fresh air coming and going in and out of your shed any time you want.See, humidity built up in the summer time and if your shed does not have any windows, the smell inside will become real bad.If you are planning to store your lawnmower in it, that is a very good reason to have not one but two windows.

An other good reason is, what if you decide to use your shed as a little workshop, and it doesn’t have any windows, guess what is going to happen? You will suffocate in there in the summer and all the dust from wood cutting will not be able to go anywhere. On a rainy and windy day, it will be a pain to work in there without windows. So don’t make the mistake to forget to put two windows or you will regret it.

Think About Extra Storage Space

Maybe right now you are building this shed with a certain amount of “stuff ” in mind to store into it. But you very well know that in a few years they will even be more stuff and the shed will be to small. So if you are thinking about building an 8×10 shed, consider that building one a little bigger may not cost that much more in material but will give you more space in the long run.

Also an other good idea to add some extra storage space is to built your roof in an angle instead of making it flat. That will give you a great extra storage space above your head for all those seasonal items that you don’t want in your way.Your free storage shed plans will provide you with such roof design.

Think of a Maintenance Free Outdoor Finishing

One of the nicest things about your new shed is the outdoor finishing.Of course you may want it to match the colour of your house. You have to carefully consider all the available materials to make a wise choice.Keep in mind that wood will change color, metal will rust and that paint will peel very quickly. If you are like me you don’t want to repaint your shed every summer. If you like the look of vinyl,it is a good choice because it’s the ultimate maintenance free outdoor finishing material.
