Painting wood trim white?
Our new house has a lot of woodwork in it. I’m not crazy about all the wood, and my boyfriend has given me free reign on decorating, including painting the wood if I want to. Most of the wood is knotty pine.
When we were trying to select paint colours for the walls, I noticed that all of the pictures in magazines and paint chip pictures have WHITE trim. I can’t find any pictures anywhere with wood trim and painted walls! I prefer the look of white trim anyway, but it’s going to be a lot of work painting all the trim in the house white, or replacing it all.
OK, here are my questions:
Does anyone have any pictures or wall colour ideas that would go well with pine trim?
and should we paint all the trim, or just replace it with trim that comes in white from the hardware store? (My dad said it is not that expensive, since it will cost money and time to paint all the trim anyway.) Also, how would you go about painting trim?

If you decorate in a log cabin theme, you can keep the wood. Otherwise you get small rollers and brushes, then prime and paint in semi or high gloss paint. Same as any other area of your house. I recommend a prime coat on this one especially because you are painting unpainted wood and its knotty pine, which will be harder to cover in one coat. I would just paint it. You would end up painting the trim if you were painting the room anyway, so what difference does it make?
