What’s the best brand of wet/dry vac at the best price?
Hello everyone,
I’m shopping for a wet/dry vacuum cleaner for my mother, to do some work around the house, and I’m a little confounded as to what to purchase. Could someone please advise me what’s the best quality at a good pricepoint? I’m looking at shop-vac’s, husky, and some other brands. But, without any guide I’m a little in the woods as far as what to buy!

I’ve owned a number of shop vacs over the years….
1) Main reason I despised the first few was noise: tthey can be considerably noisier than standard vacs. So look for dB ratings or some comparable measure of sound. 2) Another handy feature is a drain at the bottom of the container–if you often use the vac to pick up water this will make larger units easier to empty. 3) Unless your mom will also be using powertools, you can avoid “tool triggered” vacs to save a bit of money. These vacs have a receptacle built in, extremely handy if you use sanders and some other woodworking tools but otherwise unnecessary. 4) A vac on wheels is easy to transport and use. But be sure the vac is stable so it doesn’t easily tip over. A squat shape is better than a tall one.
